Microtopping

A micro-topping is a cementitious product that is normally used as a solution to repair old cracked concrete. It works best on inside applications and horizontal surfaces generating a smooth neat surface that otherwise will be almost impossible. Its extraordinary features make it ideal for both horizontal and vertical surfaces, such as plasterboard or masonry walls, stairs, bathrooms and shower enclosures. When left in its natural state, microtopping cement creates a modern industrial concrete-like finish. One special feature is its ability to be used over old wooden, ceramic and concrete floors without any need for removal. Applied in stages, one coat at a time, a surface is created which is entirely seamless.

It provides either cloudy or marble look and has a variety of natural colors. We applied our first base coat of microtopping. This was a natural grey colour and was applied using a magic trowel. This first base coat gives us a new clean canvas to work from.
